Dr. Carien Smit
I am a first-generation Canadian raised in the lower Nicola Valley. I completed my undergraduate and medical school training in Scotland at the University of St Andrews and the University of Edinburgh. After almost ten years of living abroad to study and then work as a junior doctor, I was excited to return home to British Columbia and complete my Family Medicine residency in Victoria. Like many others, I fell in love with the Island and look forward to continuing to live and work in this beautiful part of the West Coast.
I feel lucky to be incorporating obstetrical care into my family practice and enjoy supporting people throughout their entire pregnancy into their postpartum period. When not at work, I spend time gardening (mainly plants I can eat!), with friends and family outdoors, or trying out new recipes.
